Mandala #42 — Mo: Molibdeno (Molybdenum)
Element 42 · Mo · Molibdeno
Dark steel gray
A refractory metal with extreme melting point — hardening steel, and essential for nitrogen fixation in biology.
Molybdenum melts at 2623°C — among the highest melting points of elements. It strengthens high-speed tool steel. Remarkably, molybdenum is essential for life: the enzyme nitrogenase, which fixes atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia for plant growth, contains a molybdenum-iron cofactor.
50 Mandalas de Elementos Químicos — a sacred geometry digital art series where science and beauty converge. Each mandala's palette, pattern, and structure is inspired by the element's atomic character, crystal structure, reactivity, and visual identity.
