Arsenal Daily Briefing — June 5, 2026: Leão, Monga, and the Winger Question
Arsenal's winger shopping list just got longer. Rafael Leão has been offered to the Gunners at €50m, Jeremy Monga has chosen Arsenal as his destination, and Saliba's injury picture is sharpening ahead of France's World Cup opener. Meanwhile Arsenal officially confirmed 15 players leaving the club at the end of June.
What's in today's episode
- Leão wants Arsenal — AC Milan's Portugal winger has reportedly told his camp he wants to join the Gunners. Milan will sell for ~€50m. Barcelona and Man Utd are also in the frame, but Leão has prioritised a Premier League move.
- Monga says yes — 16-year-old Leicester wonderkid Jeremy Monga has chosen Arsenal over all other suitors. Personal terms are fully agreed; Arsenal are pushing to close a compensation deal worth over €10m with Leicester.
- Rogers remains a genuine target — Fabrizio Romano confirmed direct contacts with Rogers' representatives have already been made. Romano also noted Arsenal must decide which winger is the priority before committing.
- Álvarez price tag problem — Atletico Madrid have made clear their asking price is significantly above €100m. Arsenal are described as finding it near "impossible" under FFP constraints. Barça are still pushing.
- Real Madrid and Calafiori — Romano confirmed Madrid made contact with the Italian's camp weeks ago. Arsenal insist he's not for sale.
- Saliba's injury sharpens — Fox Sports / L'Equipe report back pain has worsened since the CL final. Surgery tentatively scheduled post-World Cup. Risk of missing the season opener on August 21.
- Official retained list — Arsenal confirmed 15 players leave at end of June, including Beth Mead and Katie McCabe on the women's side. Three more (Foord, Marciniak, Ogunnaike) remain in talks.
