About the Unit

We're filling 4 spots in a shared group-stage situation starting June 13, 2026. The apartment is technically in MetLife Stadium (New Jersey) with a satellite location in Philadelphia and Miami. Lease runs three matchdays with a strong chance of renewal if vibes check out. The top two finishers get to move to a nicer place (knockout stage) and there's a slim possibility the third gets grandfathered in if the rest of the building is a disaster. Utilities included. Referee provided.

Current Roommates

🟡🟢 BRAZIL — "The One With the Platinum Card"

Background: Has lived here before. Multiple times. More World Cup appearances than anyone cares to count, five championships, and an entire genre of football named after them. Basically the person whose aesthetic you spend the whole lease secretly copying.

Personality: Extremely confident, occasionally annoying about it. Will arrive with way too much luggage — like, three attackers who could start for any other team and they're rotating them in off the bench. Loves music. Will blast bossa nova / funk carioca at 2 AM when they're in a good mood; completely inconsolable and silent when they're not.

Recent history: Had a rough stretch lately — Tite era ended chaotically, they finished outside the Copa América podium, and there's been some internal drama about the coaching staff. But recent form under the new setup has ticked back up. Still ranked 5th globally. Do not let the vulnerability fool you. They are not actually down bad. They just want you to think they might be.

What they bring: Beautiful football, a genuine trophy in the building's history, and an ability to make every neutral root for them until they're up 3-0 and start doing the celebration dances.

Red flag: Will act confused when they don't win every game like it's a personal offense against nature.

🔴 MOROCCO — "The One Who Showed Up Last Time and Ate Everyone's Food"

Background: Moved into the 2022 apartment in Qatar and proceeded to absolutely wreck the entire building. Knocked out Belgium, Portugal, and Spain on the way to the semis — the first African team to make the last four at a World Cup. Qualified again, currently ranked 11th globally, and has entirely too much confidence for someone who is technically seeded in Pot 2.

Personality: Defensive and organized to a genuinely frightening degree. The type of roommate who will spend three weeks casually doing their laundry and then, without warning, eliminate the most popular person in the apartment complex. Nobody ever sees it coming. They always see it coming.

Recent history: Won the AFCON 2025 title, kept most of their 2022 squad core intact, and have the same head coach who somehow turned a 93-minute parking-lot-level defensive block into an entire international movement. Aggressive aerial dueling. Zero weak links in transition.

What they bring: An absolute defensive masterclass every single game, and the distinct possibility that the neutral football-watching public will lose their minds in joy when they make another run.

Red flag: The other roommates will spend the entire lease quietly terrified of them and pretending not to be.

🔵⚪ SCOTLAND — "The One Who's Just Happy to Be Here, Genuinely"

Background: Last World Cup appearance was 1998. Twenty-eight years. The lease was not renewed for a very long time. They are acutely aware of this and will mention it approximately once every 45 minutes.

Personality: Lovably and catastrophically self-aware. Will arrive with a full emotional support kit including tartan scarf, twelve back-up plans for potential heartbreak, and a pre-written Twitter thread titled "Typical Scotland" that they've been sitting on since 2006. Not cynical — genuinely excited! Just also pre-grieving! Both things are true simultaneously!

Recent history: Qualified from UEFA Group under Steve Clarke, edged Norway on goal difference to make it directly. Form has been patchy — strong defensively, limited creativity going forward — but they found a way in and they are here. Ranked 36th globally.

What they bring: An entire nation of passionate, self-deprecating supporters who are deeply unaccustomed to good news and will react to every goal with the energy of someone who just found $40 in an old jacket.

Red flag: The heart says believe. The brain has been here before. The heart is gonna win and then everyone will be sad again. Probably. But maybe not! That's the whole thing!

🔵🔴 HAITI — "The New One"

Background: Last World Cup? 1974. Half a century ago. Qualified this cycle through CONCACAF with a squad that barely anyone outside their diaspora could name five players from — and somehow made it. Has moved into the building with the pure uncut energy of someone who knows they have no business being here and has therefore decided to have the absolute time of their lives regardless.

Personality: Chaotic good. Will practice in the common area. Will ask questions that make everyone uncomfortable ("wait, why is there a third-place game?"). Will almost certainly lose two of their three group matches. Will do something completely unexpected in the third one that makes the entire building stare at each other in silence.

Recent history: The Haitian national team has been quietly building under Sébastien Migné — steady CONCACAF results, a qualification campaign that nobody gave them credit for surviving. Ranked 84th globally. The math does not lie. The math also did not predict they'd be here.

What they bring: The wildcard variable in every FIFA group stage that transforms the entire dynamic. Some group-stage Cinderellas get absolutely destroyed. Some steal a point nobody expected. Haiti is the mystery box. Group C needed a mystery box.

Red flag: None. Just enjoy it. We don't get to watch teams this genuinely delighted to exist at a World Cup very often.

Brazil vs. Morocco is the landlord-tenant dispute that the rest of the building will be watching through the peephole. Brazil has the credentials; Morocco has shown they don't care about credentials. The goodwill budget for this matchup alone could fund a medium-sized Netflix series.

The third-place slot is actually interesting here: if Scotland and Morocco trade wins over Brazil and Haiti (chaotic but not impossible), the table gets scrambled. Scotland's historical absence from the knockout stage, Morocco's 2022 momentum, and Brazil's tendency to start group stages slower than expected creates genuine tension in what looks like a clear top-2 on paper.
