The FIFA World Cup Housing Authority has finalized Group K tenant bios. Portugal brings a 41-year-old who needs the master bedroom and has attended nine of these. DR Congo is back after 52 years and the 1974 Zaire incident. Uzbekistan is here for the first time ever, coached by Fabio Cannavaro, and brought snacks. The FIFA World Cup Housing Authority has processed four new tenants for Group K. Below are their posted bios, as submitted. We strongly encourage you to read these before the June 17 move-in date.

Group K — Portugal, DR Congo, Uzbekistan, Colombia — Group K — four nations, one house 1

Tenant 1: Portugal 🟢🔴

Bio (their words): "Hi! We are Portugal. We have been doing this for 60 years and we are very, very good at it. FIFA rank us #5 in the world. We are coming to this World Cup for the ninth time. Our last visit to the podium was 1966 — bronze, which was technically third place, not second, but we do not like to linger on that."

Their guy: "Our captain Cristiano Ronaldo will be joining us. He is 41. He has 8 World Cup goals. This will be his sixth World Cup. Yes, sixth. He would like everyone to know this. He mentioned it four times in the squad announcement call. Coach Roberto Martínez confirmed age is 'just a number.' We are choosing to believe him." 2

Additional occupants: Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United captain, extremely creative, will reorganize the shared calendar without asking), Rúben Dias (Man City, will not let you eat in the living room), Vitinha (PSG, will not make eye contact but will assist all your goals). 1

Preferred room: The master bedroom. With en suite. And a ring light, already installed.

Tenant 2: DR Congo 🔵🟡🔴

Bio (their words): "Hello. We are the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is our current name. We were here in 1974 under a different name — Zaire — and it was, let us say, a difficult year. We lost 9-0 to Yugoslavia. One of our players ran out and kicked the ball away during a free kick in what is still the most chaotic moment in World Cup history. We have thought about it for 52 years. We are ready now." 3

Their guys: Yoane Wissa (Newcastle United, Premier League striker who does not take breaks), Chancel Mbemba (captain, 100+ international caps, the one who will remember everyone's lease terms), Cédric Bakambu (veteran, has seen things, will not be rattled by Portugal's welcome mat). 1

What they want from housemates: A fair shot. Access to the group stage points that have eluded them since Zaire. Maybe acknowledgment that 1974 was a learning experience and not a defining one.

Utility bills: DR Congo made it here through the intercontinental play-offs — late qualifier, no seeding, maximum chaos energy. Still showed up. FIFA ranks them 46th in the world. 3

Tenant 3: Uzbekistan 🤍💙

Bio (their words): "We are Uzbekistan. This is our first time. We have never been to a World Cup before. We are the first Central Asian country to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. We qualified from the Asian group stage, finishing second in our qualifying group. We arrived early and already made the bed." 4

Their coach: Fabio Cannavaro. Yes, that Fabio Cannavaro. The 2006 World Cup winner. The Ballon d'Or winner. The man who lifted the trophy in Berlin with Italy. He is now managing Uzbekistan's first-ever World Cup campaign and insisting they "play without fear," which is exactly what someone coaching a first-timer says and also exactly what you want to hear from Fabio Cannavaro specifically. 5

Their guys: Eldor Shomurodov (captain, national all-time top scorer with 44 goals), Abdukodir Khusanov (22 years old, Manchester City defender, the one who already has a Premier League-level confidence and presumably a Guardiola blessing somewhere). 1

Concerns about the flat: Portugal has a ring light in the master. Colombia brought a DJ. DR Congo brought 52 years of unfinished business. Uzbekistan brought snacks, extra towels, and genuinely no ego. They are the housemate everyone likes but nobody picks first.

Landlord note: FIFA ranked them 50th. The odds have them as extreme underdogs. Uzbekistan qualified through a decade of patient development and then hired a legitimately iconic coach to run the thing. That is not nothing.

Tenant 4: Colombia 🟡🔵🔴

Bio (their words): "Hi, it's Colombia. We were here in 2014 — we made the quarterfinals, James Rodríguez won the Golden Boot, everyone lost their minds. Then we missed 2018. Then we missed 2022. We're back now and we need you to know we remember exactly who we are." 6

Their guys:

James Rodríguez — 34 years old, injury-plagued, playing for Minnesota United in MLS, still named captain, still absolutely going. This is almost certainly his last World Cup. He is here and he has been through a lot and he scored six goals at the 2014 World Cup and honestly leave him alone. 7
Luis Díaz — Just moved from Liverpool to Bayern Munich. Electric winger. The guy who was at Liverpool when they were in peak form and then upgraded. Not a vibe problem. Entirely a vibe.
Cucho Hernández — MLS Cup winner, MLS best-XI twice, now at Real Betis in Spain. Has been to war and has the trophies. Backup plan in case James's knee acts up, which statistically it might.

What they want from housemates: Portugal to respect the shared calendar. DR Congo to maybe calm the 1974 energy. Uzbekistan to please stop being so pleasant, it is making everyone nervous.

Room assignment: Second-best room in the flat. Right next to Portugal's. This is fine. Colombia has dealt with worse.

The honest version

Portugal and Colombia are the expected qualifiers — Portugal as legitimate contenders for the whole tournament, Colombia as a team with enough talent and accumulated grievance to make noise. According to current group-stage win probabilities, Portugal sit at 64% to top the group, Colombia at 28%, DR Congo at 5%, and Uzbekistan at 3%. 8

DR Congo and Uzbekistan have a path through the expanded format — the top eight third-place finishers across all 12 groups advance to the Round of 32. This is not a consolation prize; it is a legitimate route. Both teams are aware of it. Cannavaro is certainly aware of it.

The final match, Colombia vs Portugal in Miami on June 27, may decide which one of them finishes first. This is the kind of fixture that makes the group stage worth watching.

Uzbekistan vs DR Congo in Atlanta the same day is either a dead rubber or the most important match either team has ever played. There is no way to know which one until June 27.
