In 2022, we asked you to believe. You laughed. Then we beat Spain. Then Portugal. Then we stood 90 minutes away from a World Cup final and the whole planet had to sit with that.

We are back.

Morocco's Atlas Lions have arrived in the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ranked 8th in the world, with a squad deeper than Qatar 2022, a brand-new coach, a recently awarded Africa Cup of Nations title (long story — there was a walkout, a missed Panenka, and a court ruling; we'll get to it), and one unfinished piece of business that has been pending since, technically, forever.

This campaign exists to fund the final push. Your pledge — emotional, financial, spiritual, or simply agreeing to watch the games — goes directly toward making Africa's first World Cup trophy a reality.

Who we are

The Atlas Lions are Morocco's national football team. FIFA ranking: 8th. World Cup semi-final appearances: 1 (and counting). First African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final: us, 2022, you're welcome. 1

This is our third consecutive World Cup appearance, which is also a first in our history. 2 Qualification was handled efficiently: 8 games played, 8 won, 22 goals scored, 2 conceded. The 9-point group lead was not an accident. 2

The Head of Operations

Mohamed Ouahbi, 49, coach. Born in Brussels. Former teacher. Former Anderlecht academy director for 17 years (he trained Jeremy Doku and Youri Tielemans before they became Belgian national players). Won the U-20 World Cup with Morocco in Chile in 2025. Appointed March 2026 to replace Walid Regragui — just like Regragui himself was appointed months before Qatar 2022 under similarly chaotic circumstances, and proceeded to reach the semi-finals.

The man's entire coaching resume is "takes charge at short notice and exceeds all expectations." 1

We are not saying history will repeat itself. We are just noting that it has a pattern.

The Product

Achraf Hakimi, right back, captain. Played for Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. Won the Champions League in 2025 with PSG. Current African Player of the Year. One of three Morocco players ever to score more than 10 international goals. The tactical blueprint runs through giving him a lane on the right and letting him do things that shouldn't be physically possible for a defender. 1

Full disclosure required by platform: Hakimi faces trial following a rape allegation, which he denies. Backers should be aware this case is ongoing. 1

Brahim Díaz, forward. Born in Spain, plays for Real Madrid, chose Morocco. Scored 5 goals at the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, top scorer of the tournament. Then, in the final against Senegal, attempted a Panenka penalty. Missed it. Senegal walked off the pitch in protest over a separate penalty decision. After months of deliberation, the Confederation of African Football awarded Morocco the title anyway. Brahim Díaz is the only footballer alive who missed a Panenka and still won the trophy. 1

Neil El Aynaoui, midfielder, Roma. Joined the national team in September 2025. Son of Moroccan tennis legend Younes El Aynaoui. Versatile, ball-recovering, progressive. Considered one of the Atlas Lions' best players after fewer than a dozen caps, which is either deeply promising or the rest of the squad situation is a disclosed risk (see below). 1

Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United, officially listed as right back, actually deployable in six positions including central defense and attacking midfield. At United he is used as a utility player. For Morocco he plays left back to cover when Hakimi goes on his inevitable forays forward, which is always. 1

Ayoub El Kaabi, striker. Age 21, became a professional footballer. Before that: six years as a carpenter. No, we are not leaving that detail out of the pitch deck.

Ayyoub Bouaddi, midfielder, 18 years old. Was serving as captain of the France Under-21 team several months ago. Morocco called. He answered. This is either a bold coup or the reason France's youth program has submitted a formal complaint. 2

Abde Ezzalzouli, winger, Real Betis. 15 goals across all competitions this season. 6 goals and 3 assists in his last 9 games. The momentum graph is going in exactly one direction. 2

Risks and challenges

Risk 1 — Group C opener vs. Brazil (June 13, MetLife Stadium, New York) Brazil is our first match. Yes, that Brazil. FIFA's most decorated team. Ranked higher than us. This is the equivalent of launching your crowdfunding campaign and immediately being asked to debate the category leader. We beat Spain and Portugal in 2022. We are choosing to interpret this as relevant precedent. 3

Risk 2 — New coach, limited runway Ouahbi took charge in March. The team has had limited time to absorb a new tactical identity. Regragui also took charge months before a World Cup. We are aware this is the third time we are referencing that fact. We feel it is germane.

Risk 3 — The Panenka precedent Brahim Díaz is still on this squad.

Risk 4 — Expectations In 2022 we were underdogs. In 2026 we are ranked 8th in the world. The psychological distance between those two positions is substantial. "We have nothing to lose" is no longer available as a motivational framework.

Risk 5 — Facing low-block defenses According to our own scouts, the team "often lacks ideas against teams sitting deep." We are disclosing this because it is already public information and you were going to find out anyway. 2
